M Asif Taqi, MD

Dr. Asif Taqi is a stroke specialist with passion for both clinical and research advancements in stroke care.
Dr Taqi recevied his medical degree from Dow Medical College in Karachi. in 2004. He did a research fellowship at Brown University in Rhode Island. He completed his Neurology residency training at University of Tennessee. He further completed a clinical fellowship in Critical care, Vascular neurology and Endovascular interventional Neuroradiology at Medical College of Wisconsin in 2012.
He is the recipient of the Outstanding Scholar Award for his achievements in clinical research. Dr. Taqi is triple boarded in Neurology, Vascular neurology and Critical care neurology.
Dr. Taqi’s focus of interest has always been neurovascular diseases. After graduating from this fellowship, Dr. Taqi joined a neurosurgery residency program as faculty and soon became the fellowship director for Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. Dr. Taqi became an integral part of the stroke program at Desert Regional Medical Center and elevated the level of stroke care in the community. He worked closely with American Heart Association for education on stroke prevention and identification. He became a board member and later chair of Stroke Committee for American Heart Association in Coachella Valley.
Dr. Taqi relocated to Thousand Oaks along with his wife and three children in 2015. He then assumed the role of Stroke Director for Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center in Thousand Oaks. He currently leads their comprehensive stroke and neuroendovascular program.
Throughout his career, he has continued clinical research and published book chapter and manuscript in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Taqi has been a principal investigator for 7 national trials. He continues to lead in neurovascular research and continues to work with American Heart Association for community awareness and education in Ventura County. He served as co-chair for Go Red for Women event in 2017. He also spearheads the stroke awareness committee of Ventura.
Dr Taqi is a senior member of Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery (SNIS), fellow of American Heart association (FAHA) and member of Society of Vascular and Intervention Neurology (SVIN).
